The 6th graders have begun their graphic design project.  Using only their initials, the students have been coming up with interesting ways to illustrate a logo.  Their goal is to create a logo that is simple, compact, and understandable.

The 3rd graders walked over to Magazine beach today.   Cathie Zusy, a member of the Cambridgeport Neighborhood Association invited students to imagine what Magazine beach could be.  She took the students over to an area of the park, which is due for renovations.  There, the students explored fenced off areas, an un-used old powder house; and came up with solutions for developers of the park.
In Art class, the students will draw/paint/collage/design their perfect Magazine beach park!  Some of their suggestions today included: a waterslide into the river, a skate park, a candy store, a roller coaster, flower gardens, and tree houses.
A couple of spots at the park that need improvements:

I knew I’ve been collecting shells all these years for a reason!  For an exercise in sorting and grouping, kindergarteners combed through my collection of shells.  They grouped by color, size, and shape.  After examining the shells, the students created “shell creations”.  They stacked shells, lined up shells, spelled out letters, made flowers, and more!  This sorting day was a warm up to sorting with shapes and colors in a collage project.  Here are some of their creations.

Welcome back to the Morse Arts blog!  After a restful summer away, I’m ready to begin sharing our student artwork again.

The Art Studio is often looking for donations.  Currently, I am in need of sponges, newspaper, and shoe boxes.  You can drop off these items directly to the Art Studio.

thank you 🙂
